Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 10 (ANI): Dr Jitender assumed charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana at the DGP office in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
On the same day, he was appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana by Revanth Reddy’s government.
After his appointment, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Dr Jitender, the newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana at the Telangana Secretariat.
He is an IPS officer and was serving as Principal Secretary in the Home Affairs Ministry of the state.
After taking charge as Telangana DGP, Dr Jitender IPS said, “I have taken charge. I will try to do my best. I understand the priorities of the government that we should maintain law and order, and prevent crimes. Narcotics is another issue. We have already appointed a Director of Narcotics. We have an emphasis on cyber-crimes also and we have specialisation for it. We have senior officers who are looking after the cyber-crimes. I will try my level best. We will ensure that Telangana remains peaceful. I also want to thank the government for considering me for this post. I will give my best.”
Emphasising the police department’s measures on narcotics, he said, “Government has clearly said that narcotics is our priority for which Narcotics Bureau has been already appointed. Recently, CM has flagged off some vehicles and sanctioned some manpower for it. We have good control over narcotics.”
Dr Jitender also posted on a social media platform X after taking charge and wrote, “I am honoured to take charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Telangana. My commitment is to work diligently to ensure the peace, harmony, and safety of all citizens in our state. @TelanganaCMO #TelanganaPolice #DGP.” (ANI)
