New York [US], September 22 (ANI): September 22 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Sunday address the Indian diaspora at a mega event hosted at the Nassau Coliseum in New York, Long Island. The enthusiasm to catch a glimpse of the PM saw a line of people queuing up about five hours before the event, with artists from different groups playing their traditional music to welcome the Prime Minister.
PM Modi is set to address the “Modi and US” programme around noon local time in New York.
Indian community members were seen practising their dance routines as the geared up for the big show once the PM’s arrival.
While speaking to ANI, a member of the group performing Dhol-Tasha, said, “We are very excited (that PM Modi is coming here). We are from India but we live here. We play Dhol-Tasha to keep alive the roots of India. We are excited to play this in front of the Prime Minister.”
Following this, another member expressed her excitement, adding that they were looking forward to seeing PM Modi.
“We are very excited (that PM Modi is coming here). We usually don’t get the opportunity to see him, but I am looking forward to seeing him, from a distance at least. We try to pass on this folk music that comes from Maharashtra to the next generation by keeping the culture alive,” another member of the group stated.
A member of the Indian Diaspora stated, “I am impressed by his (PM Modi’s) work for the disadvantaged communities of the remote villages, where he provides all the basic needs, education and financial help.”
Earlier. PM Modi arrived in New York on the second leg of his 3-day visit to the USA. PM will address the UN Summit of the Future, interact with the community and attend a CEO Roundtable. The Prime Minister will also chair some key bilateral meetings in New York during the visit.
On Saturday, PM Modi attended the sixth edition of the Quad Leaders’ Summit in US President Joe Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.
President Biden hosted Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for the Quad Leaders’ Summit on Saturday (local time) in Wilmington, Delaware.
Quad is a diplomatic partnership between four countries–Australia, India, Japan, and the United States. US President Joe Biden is the host of the fourth in-person and sixth overall Quad Leaders’ Summit in Delaware. (ANI)
