Delhi Police busts arms smuggling racket, two arrested – World News Network

New Delhi [India], October 6 (ANI): Delhi police have arrested two people for their alleged involvement in supplying illegal weapons, said Additional Commissioner of Police (CP) Sanjay Bhatia on Sunday.
According to Delhi Police, a crime branch team had been working to find out the supplier of illegal weapons in Delhi, and after receiving information of one such supplier, the police intercepted a person in possession of two illegal weapons and four live cartridges.
The accused, identified as Iqram, was interrogated and arrested by Delhi police on Sunday.
“There is a crime branch team which is headed by ACP Pankaj, with him, Inspector Guarav, inspector Yashpal, also ASI Munawar Ali, along with many others had been investigating the illegal supply of weapons in Delhi and had gotten some information, the team intercepted a person named Iqram with 2 illegal weapons and 4 live cartridges. In interrogation, he told us that he brought these weapons from Merrut, and he also told us that person’s name. We investigated and intercepted that person in Merrut whose name is Mashooq Ali,” CP Bhatia said.
The Additional CP said that the team reached the site where illegal weapons were being manufactured and arrested another accused, identified as Mashooq Ali, the factory owner. The factory was allegedly set up in Kashi ram colony, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused has allegedly been involved in other cases including criminal cases of Arms Act, Cheating/, Forgery Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 etc.
“In a sustained inquiry, he told us about the factory of illegal weapons. Our team reached the site, where we found it locked at first. Of course we always get some resistance, but we were successful and checked the factory where we seized some illegal weapons,” Additional CP Bhatia added.
The police have seized sixteen pistols, 41 barrels, eight tools for manufacturing guns and six live cartridges.

The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing. (ANI)
