New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Sunday wrote to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner about the worsening garbage disposal condition and directed him to ensure proper garbage collection and disposal across the city and to take the strongest possible action against officials where garbage disposal is not happening promptly.
“I am writing this letter to bring to your attention the worsening condition of garbage disposal in the entire Delhi, especially in West Zone and Central Zone. For the past few days, the garbage collection in these areas has been irregular, resulting in an accumulation of waste on the streets. The bins remain overflowing, and the stench from the decomposing waste is unbearable. This issue has led to an unhealthy environment, increasing the risk of diseases and discomfort for the residents,” she wrote in a letter.
The mayor also directed the commissioner to accompany her for daily inspections from August 20th to September 2 in each of the 12 MCD Zones to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation across the city.
“Accompany the undersigned for daily inspections from 20th August to 2nd September, to each of the 12 MCD Zones to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation across the city. Garbage collection and disposal will be the personal responsibility of the MCD Commissioner, who will be held responsible for any unsanitary conditions in any part of the city,” she directed the MCD Commissioner.
