Garhwa (Jharkhand) [India], November 4 (ANI): The president of the Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Babulal Marandi, backed the party’s promise to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Jharkhand agreeing with the decision to exclude the tribal community from its scope. He stated that this is necessary because the declining population of the tribal community is a matter of concern
Speaking exclusively to ANI Marandi said, “The tribal community will be kept outside the scope of the UCC because their population in Jharkhand has been steadily declining, according to the census conducted up to 2011, there has been a 10% decline in the tribal population across Jharkhand since India’s independence”
“If we specifically look at Santhal Pargana, the decline reaches 16%, which is concerning. While the rest of the population is increasing, the tribal population is decreasing, making it a point of worry for everyone. Hence, tribals have been kept out of the UCC’s ambit to preserve and support their community so their numbers don’t decline further. The Home Minister of the country clarified this yesterday,” he added
Babulal Marandi attended a public rally with Prime Minister Modi in Garhwa after the rally he shared the Prime Minister’s thoughts
“The Prime Minister of the country began the election campaign in Jharkhand from Garhwa. He highlighted points from the BJP’s manifesto for Jharkhand at the local level and also shed light on how the state government of Jharkhand has stoped central government schemes over the past five years” he said
“He discussed issues like the rampant looting of minerals in Jharkhand, with involvement from those in power The support from the youth was evident, as they felt the Prime Minister was speaking on their behalf, and their enthusiasm was clearly visible,” he added
In response to Hemant Soren’s statement about UCC Nahi chalega and “We have CNT (Chota Nagpur Tenancy) and SPT (Santhal Pargana Tenancy) acts,” Babulal Marandi replied
“The CNT and SPT Acts are here but still land brokers are selling tribal land using fake documents created in Kolkata these brokers protected by Hemant Soren. When people go to file complaints no official listens and people are frustrated the BJP has assured that when it comes to power the laws will be enforced strictly, and those involved in land brokerage and fraud will be identified one by one and sent to jail,” he said
Elections are being held on 81 seats of Jharkhand assembly in two phases on November 13 and November 20. A total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to cast votes in Jharkhand and there are 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters. (ANI)
