Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 8 (ANI): On the occasion of the 75th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajashekhar Reddy, many Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Telangana Chief Minister and TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy, paid homage on Monday.
Taking to social media platform X, the Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha shared a video saying that the former CM was a true leader of the masses and his grit, dedication and commitment helped uplift the people of Andhra Pradesh as well as India.
“My humble tributes to former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy ji, on his 75th birth anniversary. A true leader of the masses, his grit, dedication, and commitment to the upliftment and empowerment of the people of Andhra Pradesh and India has been a guiding light to many of us. I personally learnt a lot from him. He shall always remain an exemplar of excellence in public life,” Gandhi said.
Telangana CM and TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy, along with Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, also paid tribute to YS Rajashekhar Reddy at the YSR statue at Panjagutta in Hyderabad. They were accompanied by AICC General Secretary Deepadas Munshi, along with many party leaders.
Later, Reddy inaugurated a photo exhibition in honour of the former CM at the Jyothirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderbad.
“On the occasion of the 75th birth anniversary of Congress Party leader…former Chief Minister of the Union State…Late YS Rajasekhar Reddy… along with many party leaders, Deputy CM Shri Bhatti Vikramarka, and AICC General Secretary Deepadas Munshi paying respects to the YSR statue at Panjagutta,” Reddy said on the social media site X.
From 2004 to 2009, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, also referred to as YSR, led the then-undivided state of Andhra Pradesh as its chief minister.
He served as an MLA six times from the Pulivendula constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, in addition to his four stints as a member of the Lok Sabha from Kadapa.
Reddy met a sad end in 2009 when the helicopter that was carrying him disappeared in the Nallamala Forest region. Later on, it was confirmed that the helicopter had crashed and that Reddy had been among the five people who had been declared dead. (ANI)
