Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], July 6 (ANI): Expressing concern over what he termed as the abysmal law and order situation, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Saturday said that Bhagwant Mann’s callous attitude towards governance is making Punjab bleed with a wave of violence and hate crimes.
“Chief Minister is camping in Jalandhar for a by-poll while criminals run amok with impunity and can take anyone’s life at will,” Jakhar said.
Speaking to media persons here after visiting Shiv Sena leader Sandeep Thapar at DMC, Jakhar said law and order is the top priority for any government, but CM’s ineptness and casual attitude towards governance is making Punjab going down the path of uncontrolled violence.
“The Crime graph of Punjab must worry any same person, but Bhagwant Mann is not at all bothered. The CM is in a trance and this is fast turning into a situation of no return. People of Punjab can’t be allowed to live in this atmosphere of constant fear for their lives,” Jakhar said adding that if the state government thinks it is unable to restore law and order it must accept the same and ask the Centre for assistance.
Demanding swift action in a brutal attack on Thapar yesterday in broad daylight, Jakhar said the pattern emerging in these types of crimes in Punjab in the last few months demands urgent attention.
“First it was the fatal attack on Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri in Amritsar, then the fatal attack on Prabhakar in Nangal and now this. Any government would be concerned, but not this state government which is only interested in making ‘Rangla Punjab’ through fake advertisements, Jakhar said adding that the situation has been compounded due to the ineptness of AAP leadership.
“No one is safe in Punjab, except the CM’s family which travels with a posse of security men at the cost of the public exchequer,” Jakhar added.
Cautioning the Chief Minister, Jakhar said it is high time before the situation turns into an uncontrollable mess.
“The Chief Minister must wake up. People of Punjab won’t forgive him for ruining Punjab’s culture of tolerance with his ineptness,” he said. (ANI)
