Gurgaon (Haryana) [India], April 22: In a world where children are often hurried from one structured activity to the next, Club Loka is offering something truly rare: the freedom to wander, wonder, and meaningfully connect with the world around them. Through its thoughtfully curated City Trails program, Club Loka is transforming the way young children experience learning, by stepping outside the classroom and into the living museum of their city.
Launched as part of Club Loka’s broader mission to nurture curiosity, creativity, and connection in early childhood, the City Trails are immersive, educator-led experiences that invite children aged 3 to 8 to explore Delhi’s historical and cultural treasures in joyful, age-appropriate ways. From the grandeur of Qutub Minar to the hidden corners of forgotten stepwells, every trail becomes a journey not just through space, but through time, imagination, and emotion.
At the heart of the City Trails program is a deep belief in experiential learning, that the most lasting knowledge comes not from rote lessons, but from moments that engage the senses and stir the soul. During a typical trail, children might listen to stories under the arches of a 500-year-old monument, participate in hands-on activities like building miniature monuments or solving historical puzzles, or simply lie on the grass, eyes closed, soaking in the sounds of a place shaped by centuries.
“These are not just walks,” says Priya Dhawan, Co-founder and Head of Club Loka. “They are memory-making journeys. We want children to experience the heartbeat of their city, to feel history beneath their feet, to notice the small things, and to begin forming a relationship with the place they live in.”
In an era increasingly dominated by screens, Club Loka’s trails offer an antidote: real-world engagement, collaborative exploration, and purposeful play. Every trail is designed with care to ensure it is developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and responsive to the natural curiosity of young minds. Children are not just passive listeners, they’re detectives, artists, storytellers, and co-creators of knowledge.
The recent City Trail to Qutub Minar, saw children recreate the iconic structure, take part in a scavenger hunt, and even engage in a “sound walk” where they listened for the subtle, hidden voices of history. These multi-sensory moments leave a lasting imprint, sparking questions long after the walk is over.
City Trails also serve a greater purpose: helping children form a sense of identity and belonging. By discovering the stories, traditions, and architecture that surround them, children begin to see themselves as part of a larger narrative. “When children walk through their own city with wonder and pride, they begin to see themselves as stewards of its heritage,” says Dhawan.
With plans to expand the City Trails program across Delhi NCR and eventually to other cities, Club Loka is sowing the seeds of a quiet revolution in early childhood learning–one that values depth over speed, connection over competition, and wonder over worksheets.
Through City Trails, Club Loka is not just guiding children through historical landmarks–it is guiding them toward a richer, more meaningful understanding of the world and their place in it.
Because when learning begins with joy, discovery never ends.
