Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 19 (ANI): BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj criticised the Congress party over the National Herald case, alleging that the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheet reveals a grave misuse of power, reflecting Congress’s pattern of exploiting public institutions for personal wealth accumulation.
“The chargesheet that has been filed by ED in the case of National Herald highlights a very serious example of misuse of power. It reflects the old thinking of Congress, where it misuses public institutions in the guise of service and uses them as a tool to increase its wealth,” she said.
She further cited ED report that claimed several illegal properties has been acquired under young India ltd and AGL, which comes under the ownership of congress.
“It is shocking that a property worth Rs2,000 crore was sold to Young India Ltd. for a mere Rs50 lakh. Young India Ltd., which is listed as a not-for-profit organisation, in which the Gandhi family holds a 76% stake, is implicated in acquiring Rs90 crore in illegal assets, as per the ED report. Additionally, Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the company behind the National Herald newspaper, has been found to possess Rs661 crore in illicit properties. It is very important to investigate this matter and the Congress party has to answer to the people of the country, and also before the court on 25th April,” she said.
On April 15, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a prosecution complaint (chargesheet) against top Congress members Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in connection with the money laundering case involving the National Herald.
The chargesheet also names Congress leader Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey and others, including several firms.

The prosecution complaint has been filed under Sections 44 and 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, for the offence of money laundering, as defined under Section 3, read with Section 70, and punishable under Section 4 of the PMLA, 2002.
The complaint was filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, their associated companies, and other individuals. (ANI)
