Sirsa (Haryana) [India], October 3 (ANI): Chandrashekhar Azad, National President of the Azad Samaj Party, has stated that there is a “very good atmosphere” for the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP) alliance in Haryana.
Azad expressed confidence that the alliance would achieve positive results in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
“There is a very good atmosphere among the people towards the JJP-ASP alliance, and the morale of our workers is high. Elections are won by those whose workers have high morale. This time, like last time, this alliance will deliver very good results,” Azad told ANI.
The JJP-ASP alliance will contest all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana, with the JJP fielding candidates in 70 seats and the ASP in 20.
Earlier, Chandrashekhar Azad highlighted key issues for the Assembly elections, including employment for the youth, relief for the poor from inflation, social justice, ending privatisation, reservation in promotions, and the implementation of minimum support price (MSP) for farmers.
Following the last Assembly elections in Haryana, the BJP formed the government with the support of 10 JJP MLAs. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, JJP secured only 0.87 percent of the vote share, with none of its candidates winning a seat in the state.
In the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJP won 40 of the 90 seats, forming a coalition government with the JJP, which won 10 seats. The Congress secured 31 seats. However, earlier this year, the BJP-JJP alliance was dissolved.
Voting for all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana will take place on October 5 from 7 AM to 6 PM.
Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal stated that, under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, all campaigning must cease during the 48-hour period leading up to the conclusion of voting.
During this period, candidates are prohibited from organising or participating in public meetings, and no election-related material can be displayed through cinematography, television, or other devices. Political campaigns using music concerts, theatre programmes, or other entertainment forms to attract the public are also banned. The use of loudspeakers will also be prohibited, he said.
Additionally, no candidate or political party is allowed to campaign within a 200-metre radius of a polling booth. Agarwal warned that violations of Section 126(1) could result in up to two years of imprisonment, a fine, or both. (ANI)
