New Delhi [India], September 5 (ANI): The central government extended the ceasefire agreement with National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K)/Niki Group for another group, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said on Thursday.
As per the MHA release, the agreement has been extended for a period of one years with effect from September 8, 2024, to September 7, 2025. The agreement was signed on September 6, 2021.
On signing the ceasefire agreement in 2021, the MHA stated that more than 200 cadres of NSCN-NK joined the peace process. It further stated that the initiative is fulfilling the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “insurgency free and prosperous North East”.
On April 6, 2023, the centre extended the ceasefire agreement with three Naga groups for one year namely National Socialist Council of Nagaland-NK (NSCN-NK), National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) and National Socialist Council of Nagaland-K-Khango (NSCN-K-Khango).
All these groups are breakaway factions of NSCN-IM and NSCN-K and signed ceasefire agreements with the government over the years. (ANI)
