Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 22 (ANI): Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh on Friday attacked the central government over the inquiry of the UGC NET exam by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “biggest scams” are taking place in the education sector adding that the probe agency will suppress the matter.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday registered a case against unknown persons for compromising the integrity of the UGC NET exam conducted on June 18.
“It is a scam of the central government. The biggest scams in education are happening under the leadership of PM Modi. So, it’s their scam, and their agency will investigate it. How will it be conducted fairly? They are using CBI not for the investigation but to hide it. So, we think the investigation should happen under the supervision of the Supreme Court. CBI will suppress the information. They are using CBI to protect their people,” Ghosh said.
He further lashed out at Congress and said that the party is in a terrible situation in West Bengal.
“Congress is in a terrible situation in Bengal. First, Congress has no organisation. Second, in Delhi, the Congress is playing the anti-BJP role but in Bengal, they are disturbing TMC and supporting the BJP. The people of Bengal have rejected this. Third, Congress being in alliance with the CPI(M),” he added.
The UGC-NET exam was conducted on Tuesday. The exam was attended by 81 per cent of over 11.21 lakh registered candidates for the exam in 317 cities across the country, said UGC chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar.
UGC-NET is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC-NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. (ANI)
