Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], July 18 (ANI): Tirupati MP M Gurumoorthy on Thursday condemned the attack on Rajampet MP Peddireddy Midhun Reddy.
Midhun Reddy was allegedly attacked by ruling TDP workers while visiting the residence of former MP Reddeppa in Punganur.
Both Gurumoorthy and Midhun Reddy are YSR Congress Party leaders.
Gurumurthy termed the attack on Midhun Reddy “highly shameful” and demanded that the government take immediate action to ensure the safety of elected representatives.
He questioned the government’s ability to provide security to ordinary party workers if they cannot protect an MP.
The MP alleged that the police, who are supposed to provide protection, were instead watching the attack on Midhun Reddy. He expressed concern over the rising incidents of violence and attacks on political leaders and workers.
“Power is not permanent and those who are supporting and instigating violence today will not be in power tomorrow. The leaders of the ruling party should take corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future,” Gurumoorthy said. (ANI)
