New Delhi [India], June 21 (ANI): The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) today, with a series of events across multiple locations, including Kendriya Vidyalaya-NTPC campus, the Supreme Court of India, and AIIA’s Goa campus. These events witnessed active participation from dignitaries, faculty members, students, and yoga enthusiasts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national celebrations at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, emphasising Yoga’s significance in nurturing physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
On the 10th International Yoga Day 2024, the Ayush Wellness Centre of AIIA at the Supreme Court conducted a Common Yoga Protocol session. The event was graced by the Chief Justice of India, senior judges, the Director of AIIA, senior faculty members and its scholars.
The Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud highlighted the importance of Yoga in promoting a healthy lifestyle and spiritual enlightenment. “We enthusiastically celebrate International Day of Yoga like any other Indian festival. Celebrating Yoga Day highlights our commitment towards our nation. It delivers a message of living an ideal life with a healthy lifestyle. Yoga is not only a part of exercise but also a journey towards spiritual enlightenment,” he said.
He also talked about the 4S of yoga which is ‘Siddhanth’ which means principles, ‘Samanwaya’ means coordination, ‘Sadbhavana’ means Goodwill and ‘Sashaktikaran’ which means empowerment.”
The scholars of AIIA successfully conducted Yoga Fusion along with the demonstration of healthy drinks and foods suggested by the Ritucharya Aahar.
AIIA Director, Prof Tanuja Nesari, alongside senior judges, faculty members, and scholars, participated in the session. She highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life, describing it as a precious gift to humanity. She quoted Patanjali, stating, ” Yoga is for the purification of the mind, and Ayurveda is for physical health. The combination of yoga and Ayurveda leads to physical, mental, and social prosperity.”
Earlier, AIIA organised a Yoga Session at Kendriya Vidyalaya, NTPC campus from 6 am onwards, graced by AIIA Director Prof Tanuja Nesari, Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal, Akhileshwar Jha; AIIA Dean Prof Mahesh Vyas; Dean PG Prof Anand More; Additional MS Professor Yogesh Badwe, Associate Professor of the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, Shiv Kumar Harti, other senior faculty members of AIIA, Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers, and around 350 students participated in a yoga session. The K V students performed various cultural activities including dance performances, speeches on the importance of Yoga in our day-to-day lives, etc.
Simultaneously, AIIA Goa celebrated with a Yoga Fusion session and a Common Yoga Protocol for 200 participants at the Military camp in Bambolim. Special Yoga stamps were released for OPD patients, highlighting the values of harmony and inner peace.
AIIA has been organising a series of yoga programs for the past month. The series began on May 21 with a motivational speaker session by BK Shivani at the institute, which saw a large turnout. Continuing this series various yoga asanas and quiz competitions have been organised for faculty members and scholars at the Delhi Institute, along with the Goa campus. Yoga practice (summer Yoga Camp) for children, SIP (Summer Internship Programme), promotion of Ayur Yoga at international borders, yoga sessions with army officers and their families in Nathula, Gangtok, and collaboration with AYUSH institutions, health camps, and distribution of health kits, as well as yoga awareness campaigns at old age homes and the hospital block of AIIA, have been conducted.
