Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 8 (ANI): The Agartala Government Medical College in Tripura successfully performed the state’s first kidney transplant on Monday.
“Today for the first time kidney transplant took place in AGMC and GBP HOSPITAL. This kidney transplant is done under the mentorship of Shija Hospital & Research Institute, Manipur. I want to congratulate and thank our Chief Minister Manik Saha, Health Secretary and Director Health Service and Principal of AGMC and GBP Hospital for this initiative,” Dr Sankar Chakraborty said speaking about the surgery.
Thanking the staff of the hospital, the government, the patient and the donor, Saha said, “I also want to thank all the staff of Nephrology, Urology, Anesthesia Department and all other Doctors and Nurses involved in this process. We were able to do this owing to the cooperation of everyone. I also want to thank the patient and the donor that they have kept faith in us. Lastly, I want to thank our CM Dr Manik Saha for taking such initiative for the betterment of health facilities in Tripura.”
Dr Guliver Postsangbam, a Nephrologist at Shija Hospital and Research Institute said, “This is not the first time I have come here it’s the second time, and my team has been here for 3/4 times in this hospital. We came here to interact with the Doctor and staff.”
Speaking about the hospital facilities, he said, “There are some lacking which we suggested to upgrade and they promptly acted upon and promptly upgraded the facilities. The team and infrastructure were well-managed and satisfactory. I want to convey gratitude from the side of my entire team to the whole team of AGMC and GBP Hospital. I like to thank CM Manik Saha, and the complete administration of this hospital, the various departments, Nephrology, Urology and other departments and staff.”
