Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand) [India], April 28 (ANI): After the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Adi Kailash region is rapidly emerging on the world tourism map, with the government committed to providing better facilities to the tourists, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said.
PM Modi visited Adi Kailash on October 12, 2023, where he paid obeisance to Adi Kailash at his holy abode Parvatikund, mingled with locals, and interacted with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel too.
CM Dhami had posted a video of PM Modi praying at Adi Kailash, along with people praising the facilities available for tourists in the region. One tourist said, “The work is really good, we are really enjoying it”, while another mentioned, “The roads are good here, other people are also wanting to see the area now.”
Another tourist also confirmed that after PM Modi came in for prayers, the facilities have been introduced too, “After Modi ji came, then a lot of facilities also came.” At the same time, another highlighted her long-time wish to visit the area, finally being able to due to the new facilities, “We wanted to come to Adi Kailash for a long time, so we are finally here.”
After paying obeisance to Adi Kailash, PM Modi mingled with locals and took the blessings of the elderly at the Gunji village in the Pithoragarh district. Taking time out of a packed schedule on a day-long visit to ‘Devbhoomi’, PM Modi also interacted with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel deployed at the frontiers. After performing a prayer at Parvati Kund in Pithoragarh, PM Modi proceeded to Gunji village, which is situated at an altitude of 11,000 metres above Pithoragarh.
Adi Kailash is believed to be a “replica” of Mount Kailash in Tibet, where one can with the Parvati lake and the holy Gauri Kund at the foot of the mountain. holds significant religious value for Hindus, Jainism, Buddhism as well as the people belonging to Bon Po, and is known for its association with Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
The place has a high religious value due to its Puranic and religious context. There is a temple of Shiva in the region, with many pilgrims visiting it every year. The Parvati Sarovar lake also holds significance, believed to be connected with Goddess Parvati. Similarly, Gauri Kund Pond also holds a special place in mythology.
The area is also known for its breathtaking landscapes, challenging trekking routes, and spiritual atmosphere. (ANI)
