Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], May 26 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday targeted the Aam Aadmi Party for not living up to the promises assured to Punjab and criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for making the state a hub of corruption.
Slamming the government of AAP, Amit Shah claimed that AAP is a government that is known for breaking promises. “This is the government of the AAP party, it is a government which breaks promises. Rs 1000 were not given to every mother and sister, Punjab was not made drug-free in a month, and 16 medical colleges were not opened up in the state,” Shah said.
Referring to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Shah said, “‘Maan sahab, ye Punjab ka suba hai, maskhari karna ek baat hai aur Punjab ko sudharna dusri baat hai’ (Maan sahab, this is the state of Punjab, doing comedy is one thing and improving Punjab is another thing).”
Amit Shah’s remarks came while he addressed a public rally in Punjab’s Ludhiana in support of BJP candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Stepping up his attacks on Arvind Kejriwal, Shah slammed the Delhi CM for making the state a hub of corruption.
“Kejriwal has made Punjab a hub of corruption. If he needs money to fight the case, he takes it from Punjab’s ATM. He has made Punjab the ATM of corruption. If he wants to contest elections, he puts his credit card in the name of Maan (Bhagwant Maan) in the ATM and takes the money,” he added.
The Home Minister also took a jibe at the opposition for doing Hindu-Sikh and advised them to learn from PM Modi. “All these people are talking about Hindu-Sikh to win the elections. These people should learn from PM Modi. He made the Kartarpur Corridor and also did the work of constructing the Ram Temple. Today, I would say that if the BJP had been at the time of Partition, then the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor would not have been in Pakistan but in India.”
Shah also blamed the Congress party for hurting Punjab and claimed that AAP along with Congress are increasing drug addiction in the state. “Congress party has always worked to hurt Punjab–The wound of partition at the time of independence, the wound of instability, the massacre of Sikhs in Delhi. They also allowed extremism to flourish and even today they are promoting separatism. These Congress and AAP people are also increasing drug addiction in Punjab,” Shah said.
Expressing his views on drug addiction, Amit Shah claimed that in the third term of PM Modi, drugs would be eradicated from Punjab. “It is very sad to see the youth of Punjab in a state of intoxication. We have created a complete infrastructure to eliminate it… Modi 3.0 will completely eradicate drugs from Punjab,” Shah asserted.
Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for abrogating Article 370 from Kashmir, Shah said, “We will not let Punjab burn in the fire of terrorism again. PM Modi has ended terrorism from Kashmir by abolishing Article 370 and those who talk about terrorism in Punjab should listen carefully… If you want your well-being, stay away from terrorism or else we will not spare anyone.”
Home Minister in his address spoke about Punjab and said two things about the state. He said, “When I was a kid, my teacher used to teach me about Punjab and used to say two things: First, if there is no Punjab, the country cannot remain safe. Second, if there is no Punjab, the country cannot be fed… No matter whether the attacks are from Babur or Pakistan, the youth from Punjab has done the work of protecting the nation.”
Punjab is witnessing a four-corner fight in the state. In Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase, with the seventh and final phase on June 1 seeing voting in Gurudaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.
