New Delhi [India], December 22 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Samrat Choudhary condemned the Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday for attempting to “confuse” people of Delhi ahead of the Assembly elections in the national capital by purposefully linking Purvanchali settlements to Rohingya refugees.
He launched a veiled attack at AAP without naming them at a press conference here, saying that the population of the national capital is well aware of who is working for its well-being and development.
“There is a big politician in Delhi, who has been trying to confuse the people for a few days by repeatedly connecting the people of Purvanchal with Rohingyas. But Delhi’s population know who is working for the development of Delhi and who is not,” he said during a press conference here.
His remarks come amidst Kejriwal claiming that BJP President JP Nadda had compared Purvanchalis living in Delhi to Rohingyas in Parliament, and allegedly conspiring to delete electoral rolls ahead of the Assembly elections.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India and Delhi are moving forward, and in a place where there are various issues of water, sewage, he (former Delhi CM Kejriwal) is not speaking anything on that,” Choudhary said.
He further criticised former CM Kejriwal for sending the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh back to their home state during COVID-19 lockdowns.
“When Covid-19 was there, the CM said that whoever is from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar should go back, they (AAP) did not give them medical facilities and with buses full of people, they had to desperately make that journey,” he said.
“Arvind Kejriwal is worried about how to settle Bangladeshis and Rohingyas. The people of Purvanchal know that the AAP government ignored them during Corona,” he told ANI.
Arvind Kejriwal had said earlier yesterday that his party and government won’t allow any deletion of voters list.
“I want to tell people of Purvanchal that we won’t let anyone’s name get cut. We respect you and we will give respectful life. If BJP people come to your house, don’t tell them your name and don’t show your voter ID card. Don’t keep any contact with BJP, they might be asking for details from you to cut your name,” Kejriwal said during his statement to reporters.
“JP Nadda ji had compared the people of Purvanchal to Rohingyas inside the Parliament two days ago,” he added. (ANI)
