Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 6 (ANI): In preparation for Mahakumbh 2025, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government is pushing forward with an extensive road-widening and beautification initiative in Prayagraj.
Key projects, particularly the widening and enhancement of roads leading to Sangam, are approaching completion. With a focus on ensuring smooth access and a visually appealing experience for devotees, the work is expected to be finished by November 30.
Additional Mela Officer Vivek Chaturvedi shared that with the support of the PDA (Prayagraj Development Authority) and Cantonment Board, the construction of roads connecting Prayagraj city to Sangam will be completed by November 30. In preparation for the Mahakumbh 2025, all roads in the fair area are being widened more than twice their size compared to the previous Kumbh.
The successful organization of Mahakumbh 2025 is a top priority for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. To ensure a grand and smooth event, the state government is taking every possible step. Around 40 crore people are expected to visit Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh, which is one and a half to two times more than the previous Kumbh Mela. In line with this, the road widening is being carried out on a large scale. The roads leading to the Triveni Sangam, the main destination for devotees, are being constructed quickly.
Chaturvedi stated that the widening of roads like Triveni Road, Lal Sadak, Kali Sadak, Naval Rai Road, Kila Ghat Road, and Daraganj Road, which connect the city to Sangam, will be finished by November 30. To accommodate the increased number of devotees, the capacity of these roads is being doubled.
Additionally, interlocking footpaths are being installed on both sides of the roads to ensure the convenience of the visitors. The construction of Triveni Road, which connects Prayagraj Junction to Sangam, and the River Front Road in Daraganj is also nearing completion.
He mentioned that the roads in the fair area fall under the jurisdiction of the Cantonment Board, and their construction and widening are being carried out in collaboration with the PDA and Cantonment Board. The interlocking roads leading from Kila Ghat and Hanuman Mandir to Sangam Nose are also being doubled in width, with work set to be completed by November 30.
In addition, hoardings and signboards will be placed along the roads and at key intersections to provide visitors with information about major sightseeing spots. Information and enquiry centers will also be set up at various locations for the convenience of the devotees. (ANI)
