Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 5 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Tuesday criticised Sunil Raut’s remark “Bali ka Bakra” as sexist and linked it to misogyny. She further emphasised the need for respect towards women and called for the implementation of the 33% reservation for women in politics.
Commenting on Sunil Raut’s remark, she said, “He used the term ‘Bali ka bakra.’ This expression reflects misogyny and sexism. It is unfortunate that, in today’s time, such terms are still being used about women. Respect for women is about their representation and position in politics, and this is why the 33% reservation is essential.”
Chaturvedi also expressed her concerns about conditions at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, where passengers have reported a lack of services.
“I have received many phone calls from people saying that no services are being provided at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus for railway passengers. People are concerned about a possible stampede-like situation, similar to what happened at Bandra. I have written to the DRM regarding this. On one hand, the railway minister claims that numerous special trains and arrangements have been made, yet the conditions tell a different story,” she stated.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against Sunil Raut, the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate from the Vikhroli constituency and brother of Sanjay Raut, over allegedly objectionable comments against a female candidate from the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
The FIR has been filed under Sections 79, 351(2), and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Reportedly, during an election rally, Sunil Raut referred to the Shiv Sena Shinde faction’s Vikhroli candidate, Suvarna Karanje, as a “goat.”
Sunil Raut is running as the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate for the Vikhroli assembly constituency, a seat he previously won in the 2014 and 2019 elections. This time, he is contesting against Suvarna Karanje from the Shiv Sena party and Vishwajeet Dholam from the MNS. (ANI)
