Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], November 4 (ANI): Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday inaugurated a new Public Works Department (PWD) sub-division office in Bijhari, located within the Barsar assembly constituency of Hamirpur district.
According to an official statement, this new facility is likely to improve the maintenance of roads in the Dhatwal area, streamlining operations previously managed by the Barsar sub-division, which was responsible for approximately 600 kilometres of roads.
During the inauguration, Sukhu dedicated the strengthening of the 12-kilometre Barsar-Shahtlai road, a project completed at a cost of Rs 3.19 crore.
The Press release quoting the Himachal CM said, “this would benefit local residents as well as the large number of pilgrims visiting the prominent religious sites of Shahtlai and Deotsidh. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the strengthening work of the 24-kilometer Saloni-Deotsidh road on which Rs. 26.32 crore would be spent. This road currently 3.2 meters wide would be expanded to 5.5 meters thereby improving vehicle movement and accessibility”
Sukhu also received an enthusiastic welcome upon arriving in Nadaun and Shahtlai, where large crowds gathered to greet him. During an interaction with journalists in Nadaun, he mentioned a meeting convened with Ministers in Shimla to discuss budget preparations. He urged them to complete all necessary formalities promptly to ensure a smooth budget-making process. Sukhu highlighted that the current State Government has already fulfilled five out of ten guarantees and is actively working towards meeting the remaining promises.
The Chief Minister criticized BJP leaders for engaging in politics based on misinformation. He accused them of issuing daily statements to capture headlines while lacking a cohesive stance. “There is an internal conflict within the BJP, and the party is divided into factions,” he said. He also pointed out that misleading reports have even reached the Prime Minister, claiming that no one informed him that government employees in Himachal Pradesh had received their salaries twice in one month.
Sukhu criticised the previous BJP government for a decline in the quality of services during their tenure. He emphasized the current government’s commitment to improving these facilities and added, “Our aim is to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by 2027 and one of the most prosperous states in the country by 2032.” (ANI)
