Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 20 (ANI): As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its first list of 99 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections, leaders thanked the party and the high command for giving them this responsibility.
On getting a ticket from the Jalgaon assembly constituency, BJP leader Suresh Damu Bhole said that he would serve the people and work on the policy of the party on winning the polls.
He said, “I would like to thank the party and the high command for giving me this responsibility. I would also like to thank the party workers. We will work towards winning the seat. Our three principles are service, sacrifice and dedication. we will serve the people and work on the policy of the party. Our ideologies of party are to work for country, society, party and ourselves. We will work on that principle.”
Celebrations were held at the residence of BJP leader Sanjay Mukund Kelkar. He will contest the assembly polls from Thane constituency.
Sanjay Mukund Kelkar said, “I want to thank the party high command for giving me this responsibility. I would like to thank PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Party President JP Nadda, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the entire team who have allowed me to contest for the third time based on my performance. Voters have given me twice the opportunity in the past to serve them. Mahayuti workers have worked here so I got the opportunity twice and for third time also we wish to repeat the performance.”
On getting a ticket from Nagpur East Assembly seat, BJP leader Krishna Pancham Khopade said, “I am thankful to him for showing faith in a common worker like me for the fourth time and giving me the assembly ticket. Certainly, the BJP flag will be hoisted in East Nagpur.”
As per the list, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will contest from Nagpur South West, while state BJP president Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule will contest from the Kamthi seat.
Other key candidates include Minister Girish Mahajan who will contest from Jamner, Sudhir Mungantiwar from Ballarpur, Sreejaya Ashok Chavan from Bhokar, Ashish Shelar from Vandre West, Mangal Prabhat Lodha from Malabar Hill, Rahul Narwekar from Colaba, and Chhatrapati Shivendra Raje Bhosale from Satara.
The list also features Suresh Damu Bhole from Jalgaon City, Atul Save from Aurangabad East, Sanjay Mukund Kalkar from Thane, and Vinod Shelar from Malad West, among others.
The announcement was two days after a meeting held at Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence to discuss the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) strategy for the Maharashtra polls.
Maharashtra has 288 Assembly seats, and the BJP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
As election day nears, both the Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) — comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress — have intensified their preparations, including seat-sharing discussions.
