New Delhi [India], October 17 (ANI): The Airports Authority of India (AAI) have commenced the construction for the parking cum patient waiting lounge at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, said an official release on Thursday.
According to the release, this project is funded under AAI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, with the total estimated cost for construction being Rs 11.73 Crore. The Bhoomi Poojan ceremony was held on October 17, 2024, in the august presence of Shri M. Suresh, Chairman, AAI, Shri. Karan Singh, Additional Director Administration, AIIMS and AAI Board Members.
This initiative is part of AAI’s ongoing commitment to supporting social welfare and infrastructure development. The proposed facility will be located near Gate No. 2 at AIIMS and is aimed at alleviating congestion and providing much-needed space for the attendants of patients as well as dedicated parking.
Spanning over 1,650 square meters, the facility will include a ground/stilt floor covering 850 square meters, which will feature the waiting hall, reception, and parking for 55 cars. The First Floor, covering 800 square meters, will offer additional waiting spaces for 470 people, along with vending machines and washrooms.
The facility will be equipped with modern amenities designed to enhance convenience and comfort. These include food and coffee vending machines, a helpdesk/reception area for inquiries, and TV screens to keep attendants informed and entertained. Additionally, there will be an advanced announcement system to make important announcements, along with a feedback redressal system for addressing public concerns. For security, CCTV cameras and an ATM with round-the-clock monitoring will also be installed.
To ensure sustainability, the project will incorporate a solar PV system to reduce energy consumption. This aligns with the institute’s and AAI’s focus on environmentally responsible infrastructure development. The project is slated for completion within the next 12 months.
AAI’s CSR initiative continues to support community and public welfare projects, with this facility expected to improve the infrastructure at AIIMS significantly, enhancing the experience for both patients and medical staff.
The AAI is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining, and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India. As part of its commitment to the betterment of society, AAI regularly undertakes projects through its CSR initiatives to contribute to social and public welfare. (ANI)
