“Don’t think AAP needs any support” Raghav Chadha on possible alliance with Congress in Delhi Assembly Election – World News Network

New Delhi [India], October 9 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha on Wednesday suggested that AAP is likely to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election on its own.
Raghav Chadha’s statement comes after the poor performance of its INDIA bloc ally, Congress, in the Haryana Assembly Election. Congress suffered a loss in Haryana against the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which secured a comfortable majority by winning 48 seats.
When asked about the possibility of an alliance with Congress for the Delhi Assembly Election, Raghav Chadha said, “AAP is fully capable of defeating BJP on its own strength in Delhi. I don’t think the Aam Aadmi Party needs any support or a partner in Delhi.”
Speaking to ANI, Chadha explained that he views elections in India in two categories: “The first category of elections is where regional parties are capable of defeating BJP on their own, like DMK in Tamil Nadu, TMC in West Bengal, or AAP in Delhi. The second category of elections is where Congress is weak in a direct fight with BJP and unable to defeat it. In such cases, if Congress gets the support of constituent parties of the INDIA alliance, it can easily defeat BJP. But if it goes alone, it may not be able to win, as we have seen in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.”
The Rajya Sabha MP further emphasised that AAP is capable of defeating BJP independently.
“I don’t think the Aam Aadmi Party needs any support or partner in Delhi. Elections have been held in Delhi three times in a row, and AAP formed the government on all three occasions. In 2015 and 2020, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP formed the government with the largest mandate in the history of independent India,” Chadha told ANI.
Earlier in the day, AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar also reiterated that AAP would contest the Delhi Assembly Elections alone.
Speaking to ANI, Kakkar said, “We will contest the Delhi Assembly elections alone. On one side, there is the overconfident Congress, and on the other, the arrogant Bharatiya Janata Party. We will keep our heads down and let the work done over the last 10 years speak for itself.”
Assembly polls in Delhi are expected to be held in early 2025. AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats in the 2020 Assembly elections, while BJP secured eight seats. (ANI)
