Jhajjar (Haryana) [India], September 28 (ANI): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday attacked Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party for not fulfilling the manifesto promises and said that wherever Congress has been in power in Haryana, the condition of the state has “worsened.”
Addressing a poll rally in Haryana, the Defence Minister said, “Earlier, Manohar Lal Khattar was the chief minister of Haryana, and now it is Nayab Singh Saini. I can assure you that none of our Chief Minister has ever faced any corruption charges. There has been nonstop development in Haryana, and wherever Congress has been in power, the condition has worsened. They have always misguided the public. You want to see Congress’ work performance, look at your neighbor, Himachal Pradesh. They could not even fulfill a single promise. They promised moons and stars but could not fulfill any. The employees there are protesting for salary. CM and DCM are doing drama of not taking any salary. Women there were promised 1500 Rs but haven’t received their money. Every basic necessity–water, electricity, petrol, diesel–is expensive in HP. Whenever Congress has come to power, the price for everything has increased. They have their government in Karnataka, Telangana, and if you look at their work, you can clearly see that Congress cannot fulfill their promise. Their CM in Karnataka is facing corruption charges, and now Lokayukta has also pressed charges,” Singh said.
He attacked the Congress party and asked the people not to trust Congress, adding that Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi always insults nations on foreign soil.
“Rahul Gandhi said the BJP will end reservation, but I assure you that reservation is there and will always be there. Do not trust Congress. You saw when Rahul Gandhi went to foreign and what all he said. He tried to suly the image of our country. He said Sikhs face issues in going to Gurudwara and can’t wear pagdi and kada. I want to ask you that is there any such restriction. He always tries to insult the image of Bharat on foreign soil. We respect the sikh gurus. We bow down to guru nanaka dev ji and the sacrifices Sikhs have made cannot be measured. We were in opposition for many years. Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji and LK Advani ji were also the opposition leaders and went to foreign countries, but they never made such remarks on foreign soil. I ask you that should such people be supported in forming the government who try to tarnish the image of their own homeland,” he said.
The Union Minister also took a jibe at the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party and asked the people not to trust AAP.
“AAP is also making promises just to win elections. Their motto is ‘janta ka khazana Khali kro’. You will have to be on alert. They have government in Punjab and see its conditions. I appeal to you not to trust AAP,” he said.
Highlighting BJP’s Sankalp patra, the Union Minister said that Rs 2100 will be provided to women under the Laaddo Lakshmi Yojana.
“Families can avail health benefits worth Rs 10 lakh, and people aged over 70 can avail additional Rs 5 lakh for the same. Under Har Ghar Grahini Yojana, gas cylinder will be provided at an affordable price of Rs 500. Young girls going to college will be provided a scooty. Agniveer soldiers will get opportunity for service and at good positions,” he said.
The Union Minister highlighted the problem of farmers and said that “crops will be bought at MSP. To farmers in India, urea is provided at an affordable price of RS 300 per sack. In other countries it is RS 3000 per sack. Before the BJP came to power, there were no taps in many households, and now 70 per cent of them have tap water.”
Singh also emphasized on how India has come to rank 5 in terms of economy and aims to become developed nation by 2047.
“Bharat in 2014 was 11th in terms of economy, and in the last ten years it has become the 5th largest economy. In the next few years, it will become the third-largest economy and a developed nation by 2047,” Singh said.
He further mentioned out the ‘One Nation, One Elections’ and said that “few months back we had Lok Sabha elections, and now we have Assembly elections in Haryana. Our party believes that Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha could have been conducted together. This would have saved money and time and that is why PM Modi has come up with One Nation, One Elections.”
Rajanth Singh was not able to reach Katihal, Haryana, today and addressed the rally on the phone.
Earlier, the Union Cabinet approved the government’s ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal which proposes simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, with urban body and panchayat polls to be held within 100 days.
Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5. Votes will be counted on October 8 along with that in Jammu and Kashmir (ANI)
