Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 31 (ANI): Train services Mankhurd and Vashi railway station at the Harbour line of Mumbai were disrupted on Saturday morning due to a broken Overhead Electric (OHE) line, the railways said in a statement.
The fault occured at Mankhurd station, and the services were reported at 09.30 am, they added.
Railways said that passengers were allowed to travel via the Transharbour Line.
“During this period, passengers were allowed to travel via the Transharbour Line using the same tickets and passes. This arrangement was in place until the issue with the OHE is resolved,” the Central Railways said.
The Railways further said that the services were running between CSMT-Vadala and Vashi – Panvel only.
“Down Services were not running between Vadala-Vashi. The process for rectification of OHE was started. Due to defects at down line services of UP line were also affected,” CPRO Central Railways said in a statement.
The fault has been rectified and services were restored at 9:30 am, he added.
Overhead Electric (OHE) Lines are used to transmit electrical energy across large distances. It is conducive to the smooth running of the train traffic.
Earlier on August 8, local rain services were disrupted between Asangaon and Adgaon on the Kalyan Kasara section due to a large boulder on the tracks.
After a few hours of restoration work, authorities removed the debris and restored train services.
“Restoration work has concluded and service has started between Asangaon and Adgaon, Kalyan-Kasara section, where a bolder fell,” Central Railway said in a statement.
The incident affected the movement of trains on upline services towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The list included 22224 SAINAGAR SHIRDI-CSMT Vande Bharat Express, 11072 BALLIA-LTT Kamayani Express, 12108 SITAPUR-LTT Express etc. (ANI)
