Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 19 (ANI): Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Monday that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the party is forming a ‘Samajwadi Sabla-Suraksha Vahini’ which will take “women’s empowerment” to the masses and make them the part of “inclusive development” by bringing positive change in the society towards them.
In a letter posted on ‘X’, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that ‘Samajwadi Sabla Suraksha Vahini’ will be dedicated to the “aadhi-aabadi” (half the population) and will work for their “poori azadi” (complete freedom).
He said that the Samajwadi Party’s initiative will not just be a “four-day” concern regarding women’s issues and matters, it will not just go through the formalities, but after taking lessons from the past will shake up the ‘present’ because change happens not just with shear words but with “solid efforts.” .
“In the present context, it will take the new concept of ‘women protection’ to the masses and will bring a radical change in social thinking by bringing a positive change in the outlook towards women through sensitive efforts and dissemination of ideas of equality. It will make women a part of inclusive development,” the letter signed by Akhilesh said.
“It will also take ‘long-term concrete steps’, it will also make the paths because change will not come with few statements, but with good efforts done with true feelings,” the SP Chief said.
”Samajwadi Sabla Suraksha Vahini’ will do the very important work of increasing the self-confidence of women and ensuring their all-round empowerment through various programs on topics like ‘economic empowerment and women safety’. The feeling of security becomes the basis for the continuity of her education, her skill and capability, her activeness and self-reliance and for living a respectable life in the family and society. The more secure a woman is, the more active she will be and the more her economic contribution will increase and along with that her family and social respect and contribution to the development of the country and the world,” the letter said.
Notably, the SP leader’s announcement comes amid a nationwide doctors’ protest against the brutal rape and murder of a female doctor at West Bengal’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
On August 9, a postgraduate trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The Kolkata Police has arrested a civic volunteer in this connection. (ANI)
