New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj on Monday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party government and said that the Delhi government’s “utter and absolute apathy led to the death of three IAS aspirants in a coaching centre in Delhi.”
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Bansuri accused the Delhi government of not doing any work in the national capital.
“The students came from Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala. They came here to prepare for the UPSC examination but because of the Delhi government, they lost their lives. The cause of the deaths of these three students is the utter and absolute apathy of the Aam Aadmi Party, which led to the deaths of IAS aspirants in a coaching centre in Delhi. The criminal negligence of the ruling party in Delhi has caused the deaths of these three students,” Bansuri said.
“For a decade, AAP has been enjoying power in Delhi, but not doing work for the people of Delhi. MCD has been under AAP for the last 2 years and the Delhi Jal Board is also under them. The residents of Old Rajinder Nagar were continuously complaining to the local MLA, Councillor and officers – the MLA kept doing satire but didn’t take any action. I request the Home Ministry to form a committee to investigate the matter,” she added.
On Saturday, July 27, three UPSC aspirants died after the basement of their coaching centre in West Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar was flooded with water.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, speaking in the Lok Sabha, said that he met with the uncle of a boy from Kerala who unfortunately lost his life in the coaching centre incident.
“It is a shocking situation and I have to say that when you have brilliant students, all the dreams of serving the nation by taking the UPSC exams have been shattered, shattering the hopes of the family. This is the matter that calls for compensation but no compensation can be enough for the tragic loss of lives. There are various issues that have to be addressed, as pointed out by the previous speaker. There is sadly a level of violation of basic norms when it comes to building codes, fire safety and so on,” Tharoor said.

Tharoor and Jebi Mather called on the family of Nevin Dalvin one of the students who drowned in the flooded basement at a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar.
Following this, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav in the Lok Sabha called for an inquiry into the issuance of the NOC for the building.
“This is a serious issue and a matter of concern. Providing NOCs is the duty of the officers. What actions have been taken against those officers? It’s not just a single case of illegal buildings; we are seeing it in Uttar Pradesh that illegal buildings are being bulldozed. Will this government will run a bulldozer here or not?” Akhilesh Yadav said.

Meanwhile, the student protests in Delhi’s Karol Bagh continued on Monday morning following the deaths of students.
The MCD sealed the basements of 13 coaching centres in Karol Bagh on Sunday for violating building by-laws amid protests by students. Mayor Shelly Oberoi has directed strict action against coaching centres operating illegally in basements.
The Delhi Police arrested seven persons in connection with the incident, including the owner and coordinator of the coaching centre. The accused have been booked for culpable homicide, among other charges.
The police also appealed to the protesting students to maintain peace and not block the main roads, and they assured strict action in the case. The police also arrested another person, the driver of a car, who allegedly damaged the gate of the coaching centre on the day of the mishap. (ANI)
