Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], July 15 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked the former Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) and others in connection with their alleged involvement in recruitment malpractices for the posts of deputy collectors, deputy superintendent of police and other senior posts during the 2020-22 CGPSC exam.
The accused named in the case included Taman Singh Sonwani, the then Chairman, CGPSC and Jeevan Kishore Dhruv, the then Secretary, CGPSC; the then Controller of Examinations, CGPSC; and others, the agency said.
The agency conducted searches into the matter at various locations in Chhattisgarh on Monday.
As per the CBI, the agency has registered a case on the request of the Chhattisgarh Government for investigation of cases earlier registered at the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) police station in Raipur against the then Chairman, then Secretary, then Controller of Examinations, all of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) and others on the allegations of abusing their official positions by recruiting their sons, daughters, relatives, acquaintances, etc., who were allegedly ineligible candidates for various posts in the state government in examinations and interviews conducted during the years 2020-2022.
It has been further alleged that son of then CGPC Chairman was allegedly selected as Deputy Collector, his elder brother’s son as Dy. SP and his sister’s daughter as Labour Officer, wife of his son as Deputy Collector and his brother’s daughter-in-law as District Excise Officer. It has been further alleged that the then Secretary also got his son selected for the post of Deputy Collector, CBI said.
It was also alleged that, among others; sons, daughters, and relatives of then senior officers of the Chhattisgarh government, as well as of political leaders and functionaries, were selected as Deputy Collectors and DySPs, etc., as per the agency.
CBI is conducting searches at residential premises of then Chairman, Secretary, CGPSC and also at official premises of Controller of Examination, CGPSC, at Raipur and Bhilai.
Further investigation is continuing, it said. (ANI)
