Haridwar (Uttarakhand) [India], July 13 (ANI): Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin, the Congress candidate, received the winning certificate as he won the bye-elections from the Manglaur Assembly seat in Uttarakhand.
The Election Commission of India on Saturday declared the results of the bye-elections. Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin defeated BJP’s Kartar Singh Bhadana. In a close competition, Nizamuddin secured victory against Bhadana by a margin of 422 votes. Nizamuddin garnered 31727 votes while Bhadana secured 31305 votes.
It is interesting to note that Congress’ win comes in a state where BJP is in power.
Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand Congress took to its official X handle and posted about the victory in the state and said, “Wave of change in Badrinath assembly! With the blessings of Mahadev, Congress had a great victory. There is an atmosphere of celebration everywhere due to this victory. The people have shown the power of democracy and have warned the dictators that the people are supreme and are aware of their rights.”
In another post, it said, “Social media president Vishal Maurya met the state president Karan Mahara at his residence and congratulated him for the spectacular victory of the Congress in the byE-elections of Badrinath and Manglaur assembly seats and expressed gratitude for his able leadership and congratulated him with flowers.”
Notably, the counting of votes for the 13 legislative assembly seats spread across seven states began on Saturday morning. Polling took place on July 10 for the assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.
The Election Commission held the by-elections in one seat of Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh, two seats of Uttarakhand, three seats of Himachal Pradesh, and four seats of Uttarakhand.
The constituencies included Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu; Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh; Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, and Maniktala in West Bengal; Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh; Badrinath and Manglaur in Uttarakhand; Jalandhar West in Punjab; and Rupauli in Bihar. (ANI)
