Amritsar (Punjab) [India], July 5 (ANI): The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police have jointly recovered around 550 grams of heroin from the Amritsar border area.
“On 04th July 2024, during late evening hours, the BSF intelligence wing shared information regarding presence of narcotics packet in the border area of district Amritsar. Acting promptly, BSF troops, in collaboration with Punjab police conducted an extensive search operation in the suspected area,” the BSF said in a release.
During the search operation, at about 09:25 pm, troops successfully recovered one packet of suspected heroin (Gross weight- 550 grams) from the area adjacent to the village- Roranwala Khurd in district Amritsar, said the official release.
The narcotics were wrapped in yellow colour adhesive tape and one metal ring along with an illuminating strip was found attached to the packet, said the BSF.
This border district of Amritsar has been prone to illegal weapons and narcotics smuggling from across the border.
On Wednesday, July 3, the BSF seized two pistols, four magazines and 40 rounds of bullets filled in the magazine from a recovered drone in Nissoke village of Amritsar.
According to the BSF, the seizure was made during an extensive search operation in the suspected area, which was initiated after information regarding drone presence in the area was received. The marking on ammunition proves it to be made in Pakistan.
The recovered drone was identified as a China-made DJI Matrice 300 RTK. (ANI)
