New Delhi [India], July 4 (ANI): The Women and Child Development department of the Delhi government on Thursday took over the management of the Women Helpline number 181 that was previously handled by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).
Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot on Thursday informed that 1,024 calls were received until Thursday at 2 pm today.
“The service of women helpline number 181 has been started by the Women and Child Development Department. A total of 1,024 calls were received on helpline number 181 since its resumption at 4:58 PM yesterday till 2 PM today,” Gahlot posted on X.
This transition occurred following the directive from the Government of India, which instructed the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi, to manage the Women Helpline-181 as per a letter to the Chief Secretary dated May 4, 2023.
The Women Helpline number 181 receives approximately 40,000 calls each month.
It is a toll-free, 24-hour telecom service providing support and information to women seeking assistance. (ANI)
