New Delhi [India], November 26 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described the programme commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as a “historical festival” for the city, praising the massive participation of devotees from across the country.
On Tuesday, Delhi CM told ANI, “This will always be remembered as a historical festival in Delhi… I thank all the devotees who came from different corners of the country… We will organise many such programmes throughout the year…” She added that the festival will remain etched in the memories of the people and will serve as an inspiration for future commemorations.
Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, visibly moved, called the event the “final day of commemoration” and described it as a “historic and emotional moment for all of us.”
“Today is the final day of commemoration. This is a historic and emotional moment for all of us… PM Modi visited Haryana today and paid tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji,” he told reporters.
Minister Kapil Mishra echoed the sentiment of collective fortune, remarking on the massive turnout, “Lakhs of people are gathered here… The President herself was present here… We are fortunate to have had the chance to organise this… I congratulate everyone,” Mishra added.\
President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, attended a programme organised by the Delhi government at the Red Fort to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The event commemorated the ninth Sikh Guru’s supreme sacrifice for upholding freedom of belief and pluralism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a special programme commemorating the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, the revered ninth Sikh Guru.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday participated in a special programme commemorating the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, the revered ninth Sikh Guru.
“On his 350th Shaheedi Diwas, we bow to Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. His unparalleled courage and supreme sacrifice inspire millions,” PM Modi said.
Guru Tegh Bahadur, remembered as “Hind di Chadar,” sacrificed his life in 1675 to uphold the right to freedom of belief. His martyrdom occupies a significant place in India’s socio-religious history, symbolising the defence of pluralism and civil liberties. The state government said the observance aims to raise awareness of his teachings on compassion, equality and resilience.
Commemorating Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom day serves to honour and preserve the legacy of the ninth Sikh Guru while upholding the religious sentiments of the people. Sikhs mark the day with special prayers in Gurdwaras across the country. (ANI)
