Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 18 (ANI): Kailash Vijayvargiya, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday took a jibe at the Congress party and said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra contesting from Kerala’s Wayanad was “the biggest example of parivarwad.”
On the question of Priyanka Gandhi contesting from Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll, Vijayvargiya while speaking with the reporters said, “This is the biggest example of familialism (parivarwad)… I feel pity for Robert Wadra.
Notably, Rahul Gandhi won Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad in Kerala and Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. He has decided to retain Raebareli, a traditional party stronghold, with the party deciding to field Priyanka Gandhi from Wayanad.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge announced Priyanka Gandhi’s candidature from Wayanad at a special press conference on Monday. If Priyanka Gandhi wins from Wayanad, three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family will be in Parliament – Sonia Gandhi in Rajya Sabha and Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in the Lok Sabha.
Priyanka Gandhi said at the special press conference that she will contest the bypoll from Wayanad but her decades-old association with Amethi and Raebareli will continue.
“I am very happy to be able to represent Wayanad and I will not let them feel his (Rahul Gandhi’s) absence. I will work hard and I will try my best to make everyone happy and be a good representative. I have a very old relationship with Raebareli and Amethi and it cannot be broken. I will also help my brother in Rae Bareli. We will both be present in Rae Bareli and Wayanad,” Priyanka Gandhi said at the special press conference.
Meanwhile, Vijayvargiya also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies for farmers and said that the schemes have led to an increase in the income of farmers.
Speaking with the reporters, Vijayvargiya said, “The way the Prime Minister has said that the incomes of the farmers shows his affection for the farmers. The kind of policies that have been there for the farmers in the country, have led to an increase in the income of the farmers.”
He added further, “And I feel proud to say that because of the increase in the farmer’s income, the per capita income in the country has also increased, the GDP has increased. India has become an economic engine and the agricultural sector has a big role to play in it.”
The state minister also spoke about the conservation of the Upper Lake, also known as Bada Talab or Bhojtal, located in the state’s Bhopal and said, “There will be no tampering with big ponds… Our Chief Minister has directed us to protect all the water bodies and the lake of Bhopal is the pride of Madhya Pradesh and hence, there will be no tampering with it.” (ANI)
