Heavy rain lashes several parts of Delhi – World News Network

New Delhi [India], July 13 (ANI): Heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Sunday, bringing relief from days of intense heat.
Traffic also came to a standstill in many parts of the national capital following the heavy rainfall. A traffic jam was witnessed at Rajiv Chowk as vehicular movement slowed down, following heavy rainfall.

India Meteorological Department in its latest update issued on Sunday evening at 18:50 hrs had informed that Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by moderate thunderstorm and lightning (40-60 Km/h gusty winds) will likely occur in the entire Delhi and NCR.
According to the weather department, Sonipat, Kharkhoda, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad, Hodal (Haryana), Bagpat, Khekra, Pilakhua, Nandgaon (UP) Bhiwari, Tizara (Rajasthan) can also witness rain till 21:00 hrs.
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta claimed on Thursday that there was no waterlogging in the national capital following heavy rain in the Delhi-NCR area from Wednesday night.
CM Rekha Gupta said, “We are solving the backlog of the last 27 years of Delhi one by one. Even after such heavy rains, there was no waterlogging in Delhi.”
She added that there was no waterlogging at Minto Bridge, which made headlines in the media every monsoon.”It was a trend for a picture of a waterlogged Minto Bridge to be published in the newspapers. But this time it did not happen,” the Chief Minister told reporters.
Delhi has experienced incessant rainfall since Wednesday, causing waterlogging in several areas, including Bindapur in Uttam Nagar, where roads are submerged under water. Traffic also came to a standstill in many parts of the national capital following the heavy rainfall. (ANI)
