Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 10 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday expressed his pride and gratitude following the induction of Tokhan Sahu, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winner from Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency, into the council of ministers as a Minister of State.
In a statement, CM Sai lauded Sahu’s appointment, emphasizing the honour it brings to the state.
“It is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh that our leader Tokhan Sahu got to be a part of the council of ministers. The whole of Chhattisgarh is thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inducting him into the council of ministers,” Chhattisgarh CM said.
First-time MP Tokhan Sahu was the only one among the ten newly-elected BJP members from Chhattisgarh to be included in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council of ministers on Sunday.

Sahu won against Devendra Yadav in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency.
Sahu who won Bilaspur Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 elections, took oath as the Union Minister of State.
The BJP’s choice to include him highlights the representation of the OBC Sahu community, which is one of the largest OBC groups in Chhattisgarh.
“I, Tokhan Sahu, am taking oath with the blessings of all of you! I am heartily grateful for all your blessings as Union Minister of State…… Jai BJP, Tay BJP, Jai Chhatisgarh Mahtari”, Sahu wrote in a post on X.
Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for his third successive term at an impressive ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening with 71 MPs from the BJP and its allies joining the party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
The council of ministers is a blend of youth and experience with senior BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar taking oath of office. Several young leaders from BJP and allies, including first-time MPs, also made it to the council of ministers. Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, who is the first BJP MP from Kerala and Harsh Malhotra, who won Lok Sabha polls from East Delhi, are among the first-time MPs in the union cabinet.
