Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 10 (ANI): In an effort to provide top-notch travelling facilities to the people in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced measures to enhance commuter services provided by HRTC, including the procurement of new Volvo buses and Tempo travellers to strengthen the fleet.
Underscoring the critical importance of HRTC, particularly in light of the limited air and rail connectivity in the state, the chief minister chaired a meeting of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) in the state capital.
While emphasising its pivotal role as the lifeline of Himachal Pradesh, the Chief Minister assured full support from the state government that would bolster the corporation’s operations.
The Chief Minister announced significant measures to enhance commuter services provided by HRTC, which include the procurement of 25 new Volvo buses and 50 Tempo travellers to strengthen the fleet.
Apart from this, CM Sukhu said that plans are underway to introduce electric buses, with a substantial budget of Rs 517 crore allocated for their purchase in the current financial year.
To facilitate this, the state government committed to providing Rs 63 crore per month to support HRTC in delivering excellent transport services to commuters.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also gave his valuable suggestions during the meeting.
