New Delhi [India], May 8 (ANI): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said that efforts must be made to ensure that Pakistan is “grey-listed” in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which is an intergovernmental organisation engaged in combating terrorist financing.
“We should make efforts to grey-list Pakistan in FATF,” Owaisi told reporters after attending the all-party meeting called by the centre amid increasing tensions between India and Pakistan following the launch of Operation Sindoor, in response to the ghastly Pahalgam terrorist attack.
He appreciated the efforts made by the armed forces and the central government for carrying out Operation Sindoor and suggested that there was a need to run a worldwide campaign against The Resistance Front (TRF), a front for the UN-proscribed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) – as mentioned by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during the special briefing earlier.
“I have complimented our armed forces and the government for Operation Sindoor. I also suggested that we should run a global campaign against The Resistance Front (TRF). I also suggested that the government should request the USA to designate it (TRF) as a terrorist organisation,” Owaisi said.
“February 2025, son of Hafiz Saeed gave a speech in PoK, where he said that we will do jihaad this year. They want to spread terror in India. We must lobby with them (the US) to declare TRF as a terrorist organisation,” Owaisi added.
He further stated that those who have been killed in Poonch due to ceasefire violations by Pakistan must be declared as victims of terrorism and must be compensated appropriately.
“The government has a golden opportunity in Kashmir to confront Pakistan and adopt Kashmiris. Those who have lost their lives in Poonch should be declared terrorist victims, and the government should compensate and provide houses for them, as they lost everything because of Pakistan’s ceasefire violations,” Owaisi asserted.
Speaking on the reports about a Rafale being shot down in Bathinda, Owaisi said that the Indian Air Force should deny it to not hamper the morale of the armed forces.
“The biggest takeaways for me (from Operation Sindoor) are that Bhawalpur and Muridke – two known terrorist sites were destroyed. Many international media outlets have reported that a Rafale has been (shot) down in Bathinda. The Indian Air Force should deny it, as it shouldn’t damage the morale of our armed forces,” he added.
