Patna (Bihar) [India], April 26 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday accused Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family of looting Bihar during their time in power and asserted that the people would not give them another opportunity.
Choudhary blamed Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family for the lack of development in the state, particularly pointing to the poor number of universities and medical colleges.
Speaking to ANI, Choudhary said, “Lalu Prasad’s family was given a chance to work in Bihar for a long time. They looted Bihar. Efforts were made to stop the development of Bihar. For 15 years, no university was built, and no medical college was built. Roads, electricity and water did not reach the villages. Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family are solely responsible for this. The public will not give the Lalu family a chance. Nitish Kumar has done development work.”
Meanwhile, in another development, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday put up posters in Patna, Bihar, criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bihar, saying that while the country mourns, the PM is taking out an election rally, referencing the recent deadly Pahalgam attack.
The posters, put up by RJD member Sanju Kohli, written in Hindi, said, “On one side the country mourns, on the other side there is a rally. The people will remember everything.”
The poster also took a sarcastic jibe that the PM should take action against the terrorists as the whole country is behind him, along with pictures of PM Modi sitting down with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, contrasting it with a candlelight march taken out condemning the Pahalgam attack.
On April 24, PM Modi, while addressing a public gathering at Bihar’s Madhubani, said that the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack, along with those who conspired to commit it, will face punishment beyond their imagination.
The attack in Pahalgam occurred on Tuesday at Baisaran meadow, where terrorists targeted tourists, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, and leaving several others injured. It was one of the deadliest attacks in the region since the 2019 Pulwama strike, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF jawans.
A high-stakes contest is expected in Bihar, where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the Janata Dal (United) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will take on the opposition Mahagathbandhan. The opposition alliance includes the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Left parties.
The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to be held later this year. (ANI)
