“INDIA alliance emerged as strong opposition”: SP MLA Ravidas Mehrotra – World News Network

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 6 (ANI): After the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the INDIA alliance has emerged as a strong opposition, although the NDA’s claim to form the government is strong right now, said Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra.
“The big leaders of the INDIA alliance have now started talking about a strong opposition instead of the exercise of forming the government. The opposition said that the BJP is weak and it is going to form the government with the alliance, but the INDIA alliance has emerged as a strong opposition, so we will raise our voice in Parliament on the issues of the public as a strong opposition and will soon form the government because the public has made up its mind for change,” said SP MLA Mehrotra.
At the same time, BJP’s Subrat Pathak, who lost from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat, reached Lucknow Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He said, “We have met the Chief Minister, and we will continue to work to remove the shortcomings in the areas where BJP has faced defeat.”
Subrat Pathak further said that the Samajwadi Party has got votes by inciting the public.
Mehrotra, who lost the Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow, said, “On one side there is a weak government and on the other side there is a strong opposition, we will raise the issues of the public.”
“Samajwadi Party has won a big victory in Ayodhya and BJP has suffered a crushing defeat, which clearly shows that Lord Ram is with us. The public had made up its mind to bring about change. BJP was arrogant about power, so the public has made up its mind to break their arrogance,” he further said.
In a major setback to the BJP, it gained only 33 seats against 63 in the 2019 LS polls while the Samajwadi Party, on the other hand, secured 37 seats by itself, thus witnessing a massive improvement in the state.
The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. For the first time, since the Bharatiya Janata Party swept to power in 2014, it did not secure a majority on its own.
The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth, winning 99 seats. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions. (ANI)
