Guna (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 15 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh police on Tuesday said that the situation in the violence-hit area of Guna district was back to normal, and everyone was getting engaged in their respective work.
Police teams continued to be deployed, and patrolling was being done in the region as a precaution, Inspector General of Police (IG) Gwalior Zone Arvind Kumar Saxena said.
Speaking to ANI, Saxena said, “Currently, 14 mobile teams and around 30 brigades are deployed in the region, and their rotation-wise shift has been set up. The basic objective is to keep the force vigilant, and continuous patrolling is also being done in the area. As of now, there is a good normal situation here, and everyone is engaged in their respective activities. Sometimes, such incidents happen, and everyone should take a lesson from it and think about maintaining peace and calm in their city.”
Highlighting the police action taken in the matter so far, the officer said that seventeen accused were arrested in connection with the incident that occurred on the night of April 12 during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in the city.
“A total of seventeen accused have been arrested in connection with the incident that occurred on the night of April 12. Apart from this, our constant effort is that all the communities should show an example of unity. Guna has been a reputed city, and residents should cooperate in maintaining the peace and security in the region; also, everyone is cooperating in doing so. The daily routine of the citizens here is completely normal,” IG Saxena said.
When asked about the protest and ruckus held on Monday by the Hindu outfit, the officer said that wherever such an incident happened, which is worth taking cognizance or falls under the category of crime, action will be taken according to law.
To prevent such incident in future, he added, “There should be a good assessment at the district level. There are many occasions when major festivals and major processions are held, then we used to hold a meeting with the organizers ahead of it and make SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Objective and Threat) analysis of it. If the district administration works poeprly on all these four points, then all kinds of processions or festivals can be held quite well with coordination among all the communities of the society.”
“There were many occasions when big festivals took place simultaneously on the same day. At that moment, a meeting was held, and everyone was convinced to celebrate their festivals using their traditional methods and proper coordination. So, every festival can be celebrated peacefully,” he added.
It is worth noting that a clash broke out during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on April 12, when the procession was passing near the Colonelganj Mosque. According to the police, stone-pelting occurred following the exchange of slogans between members of two communities.
SP Sanjeev Kumar Sinha then said that a few people were injured in the incident and the situation was under control.
“The procession was passing near Colonelganj Mosque, during which slogans were raised among the two communities. We got to know that stone pelting also took place, in which some people have been injured. Force was immediately sent as soon as the information was received. The situation was brought under control within 15-20 minutes,” Sinha told ANI on April 12. (ANI)
