Washington DC [US], April 10 (ANI): Actor Tom Hiddleston is set to reprise his superhero role of Loki in Avengers: Doomsday, which may reunite him with his fellow Avengers co-stars Chris Pratt, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and others.
Hiddleston was one of the many actors confirmed to return to the MCU and was recently asked about the film, which the Russo Brothers will direct.
As quoted by Deadline, Hiddleston expressed his excitement for the movie in an interview with Comic Book. He teased the return of Loki’s character in the film, who met his end at Thanos’s hands in Avengers: Infinity Stones.
“[I’m] very, very excited,” Hiddleston told ComicBook. “It’s really remarkable that I can talk about it because mostly I’m in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything … it’s been an extraordinary chapter of my life playing Loki, and it’s not over yet.”‘ said Tom Hiddleston as quoted by Deadline.
Hiddleston has played the anti-hero across the MCU, starting with 2011’s Thor. He reprised the role in 2012’s The Avengers, 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
The actor’s last appearance in film as Loki was in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The anti-hero character Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, also had a TV series on Disney+ that premiered in 2021 and ran for two seasons, wrapping its second season in 2023.
Loki’s character is a step brother to Thor, played by Chris Hemstworth. Hiddleston served as the main villain in the first instalment of Avengers.
Meanwhile, the actors confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday included Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Florence Pugh (Yelena).
The Avengers sequel would also see X-Men stars be part of the MCU for the first time like Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier / Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast).
The ‘Fantastic Four ‘ will also be represented in the film, with Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch) joining the cast.
Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to release on May 1, 2026, with a follow-up film, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ scheduled for May 7, 2027. (ANI)
