Patna (Bihar) [India], June 1 (ANI): As voting is set to begin in eight seats in Bihar in the seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha polls, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary appealed to people to exercise their franchise to make Bihar ‘Viksit Bharat’.
“I would appeal to the people of Bihar to cast their votes to make India Shrestha & to make Bihar ‘Viksit Bihar’…I appeal to everyone to contribute to making this country Shrestha,” Chowdhury said on Saturday.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who has been fielded from Patna Sahib also appealed to people in his constituency to exercise their franchise.
“I appeal to the people of Patna to come in large numbers at the booths and cast their votes. This is your democratic right,” Prasad said.
Exuding confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi coming to power for the third time, the former Union Minister said, “I have full faith that the people of Patna want to elect PM Modi as the Prime Minister for the third time. They want a stable government…People are showering their blessings…”
Prasad is facing a challenge from Anshul Abhijit of Congress in Patna Sahib. Abhijit is the son of former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that the BJP will be winning all the eight seats in Bihar that are voting in the seventh phase of elections.
Slamming the opposition INDIA bloc, Singh said, “…They (opposition) will not get even those seats they have hopes from. The poor of the country are standing with PM Modi…We will win 8 out of 8 seats.”
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Hajipur Lok Sabha candidate Chirag Paswan exuding confidence in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) winning all 40 seats in Bihar.
“We are confident that like the last 6 phases, voting will be in favour of NDA in the seventh phase as well. There is no doubt that we will win all 40 seats in Bihar and PM Modi will take oath as Prime Minister for the third time…,” Paswan said.
On polling day, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha said, “This is the biggest festival of democracy. The Lok Sabha elections are in the final stage…The people will cast their votes with new trust…”
The BJP is contesting five of eight seats in this phase with its allies contesting the rest. From the INDIA bloc, Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) and the CPI-ML are contesting from three seats each, while the Congress from two.
Elections in Bihar are contested in all seven phases. With 40 Lok Sabha constituencies, the fourth highest among all States and Union Territories, Bihar holds a crucial position in shaping Indian politics.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA, consisting of BJP, JDU (Janata Dal-United), and LJP (Lok Janshakti Party), secured victory by taking the lead on 39 out of 40 seats. (ANI)
