Rocker Billy Idol has officially become a US citizen.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services tweeted out photos of the British-born celebrity holding an American flag as he took the Naturalization Oath of Allegiance at a ceremony in LA.
‘It’s a nice day for a naturalization ceremony,’ the USCIS wrote. ‘Congratulations Billy Idol on becoming a #newUScitizen today in Los Angeles, CA.’

Billy – born William Michael Albert Broad in the British town of Stanmore, Middlesex in 1955 – has been a resident of the United States for years.
In 1981, after co-founding the punk rock group Generation X in the UK, he moved to New York where he embarked on launching a solo career.
His first self-titled album which contained the single White Wedding was released in 1982 and his follow-up album Rebel Yell – with the hit single of the same name and the hit single Eyes Without A Face – made him a star.

Billy, 62, recently announced he would play 10 concerts as part of a Las Vegas residency at the Palms Casino Resort in 2019.
In order to become a naturalized US citizen, a person must have been a permanent resident or ‘Green Card’ holder for at least five years, be able to read, write and speak basic English and be ‘of good moral character.’
The Oath of Allegiance includes swearing to renounce allegiances to any foreign power and ‘to support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.’
