UK weather map: Four days of Met Office warnings in place for the UK – areas affected – Express.co.uk

The latest UK weather forecasts have painted a bleak picture for the UK as it enters October, with more wind and rain on the horizon. The Met Office recently issued another four yellow warnings for the country, in place from September 28 to October 1. Over the next four days, forecasters expect rainfall totals of up to 70mm and 50mph winds.

In their latest warnings, the Met Office has forecast heavy rain and winds up to 50mph going into next week.

The first yellow warnings – in place over this weekend from 6pm today to 5pm on Sunday – predict up to 70mm of rain and winds up to 40mph on the west coast.

The Met Office said: “An area of persistent, heavy rain will arrive from the southwest by Saturday evening before moving east overnight and through Sunday.

“The rain should clear from the southwest on Sunday morning but will persist over parts of north Wales and northern England through much of Sunday.”

The following areas are affected from Saturday to Sunday:

– East Midlands

– North West England

– South West England

– Wales

– West Midlands

– Yorkshire & Humber

Once the first round of rain has cleared this weekend, it will move to the east, where the Met Office has issued another two days’ worth of weather warnings.

More yellow warnings are in place from September 30 to October 1, with the possibility of disruption to travel and flooding of homes and businesses.

The forecast reads: “Through the period, 20-40 mm of rain could fall quite widely with perhaps as much as 70 mm over high ground in Wales and northern England.

“With the ground having been left wet by heavy rain in the area this weekend, some flooding is likely.”

The following areas are affected from Monday to Tuesday:

– East Midlands

– North West England

– Wales

– West Midlands

– Yorkshire & Humber

The Environment Agency has issued 31 flood warnings, which mean flooding is expected, for the following areas:

– Areas Closest to Sankey Brook at Dallam

– Arkle Beck at Reeth and Low Fremington

– Beaulieu

– Bosham and West Itchenor

– Brislington Brook, riverside properties

– Fareham

– Langstone and Emsworth

– Lyme Regis Harbour

– Mersey Estuary at Arpley Bridge, Warrington

– North Bank of the Humber estuary at Hessle Haven

– North Sea coast at Bridlington – Harbour Road and Floral Pavilion

– North Sea coast at Bridlington – South Pier

– North Sea coast at Easington and Kilnsea

– North Sea coast at Hornsea

– Poole Harbour at West Quay and Lower Hamworthy Quay

– River Calder at Brearley and Luddenden Foot

– River Ribble at Samlesbury, around Brockholes Reserve and Lower Brockholes Quarry

– River Trent at Alkborough Flats

– River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook

– River Vyrnwy at Melverley

– Somerset coast at Porlock Weir

– Somerset coast at Portishead and Portbury Dock, seafront properties and Portbury Dock areas

– South Cornwall coast at Mounts Bay, seafront properties

– South Cornwall Coast from Gribbin Head to Rame Head

– South Cornwall Coast from Lands End to Lizard Point excluding Mounts Bay

– South Cornwall Coast from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head excluding Truro City

– South Cornwall Coast from Rame Head to Wembury Bay including tidal estuaries

– Whinney Brook and Dovers Brook at Maghull, around Hall Lane, Damfield Lane and Foxhouse Lane

– Whinney Brook and Dovers Brook at Maghull, between Sefton Lane and the Waste Transfer Station

– Wye Estuary at Brockweir

– Wye Estuary at Elmdale, Chepstow
