Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner probably gets asked about her wedding to Joe Jonas as much as she does about show spoilers and, in a new interview, she’s got some wedding details to share. Will they get married this year?
How did Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas meet?
Turner and Jonas’ meet-cute story is all very modern — they connected on social media. Turner told Harper’s Bazaar UK that they had mutual friends who tried to set them up and that never happened, but thank goodness for Instagram.
She explained: “We were following each other on Instagram,
and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.” Jonas slid into her DMs
and the rest, as they say, is history.
Has Turner won over Jonas Brothers’ fans?
Was Turner immediately accepted by Jonas’ fans? During the interview, Turner was asked if the Jonas Brothers’ fans hate her and she responded, “Yeah, I guess so,” adding, “It’s better now. His fans have gotten a bit older.”
She noted that his fans are likely a bit more mature now than if she had come into the picture earlier, explaining: “If I’d been dating him during the years when he was appealing to the 14-year-old crowd, it might have been a bit more hostile.”
It turns out that Turner’s fans are looking out for her as well, as she revealed: “The people who watch the show are quite protective of me because they’ve seen me grow up. They write to him and say ‘If you do anything to her… if you break her heart…’ It’s sweet. I like it.”
Turner wasn’t giving away Game of Thrones or wedding spoilers
While Game of Thrones is set to end this spring (Turner’s been on the show since she was 13), of course, she has to remain tight-lipped about any spoilers.
She’s also a bit quiet when it comes to discussing her wedding with Jonas, it turns out. When Turner shared, “We’re trying to keep it as low-key as possible so it’s more of an intimate thing,” the interviewer asked, “This year?” Her response was simply: “Maybe.”
Turner did share some of what makes their relationship work, however, talking about how they provide a good balance when it comes to their energy and outlook. Turner remarked: “He’s lovely. He’s just the funniest. You wouldn’t expect he’s about to turn 30 this year. He’s the most fun, energetic, positive person I’ve ever seen. I’m pessimistic, so we balance each other out.”
What’s next for Sophie Turner?
As filming Game of Thrones wrapped in May, Turner has found herself with a bit of free time and is using the opportunity to pick up a hobby. She noted: “I’ve been trying to figure out what I like to do for myself. It’s been 10 years of playing someone
She’s got some time to plan a wedding this year, anyway.
