Second-degree murder charges laid in Susan Kuplu disappearance

Ottawa Police have laid murder charges in the disappearance of 37-year-old Susan Kuplu.

Police said in a media release Saturday that Ottawa’s Lennese Kuplu, 18, appeared in court on Saturday morning and was charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a dead human body. Ottawa Matters has confirmed that Lennese Kuplu is Susan Kuplu’s daughter, one of five children. According to a relative, both Susan and Lennese Kuplu moved from Igloolik, Nunavut, before moving to Ottawa over two years ago.

Susan Kuplu was last seen on January 11th in the area of Elgin and Laurier. The Major Crime Unit took over the case on Tuesday, believing that foul play was involved. On Friday, police announced that they were investigating the case as a homicide.

Lennese Kuplu was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday morning.
