ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agent CB Nevin Lawson, the team announced Wednesday.

Lawson signs with the Raiders having spent his first five seasons with the Detroit Lions after being selected by the club in the fourth round (133rd overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. Over his career, Lawson has appeared in 63 contests with 54 starts, totaling 194 tackles (163 solo), 25 passes defensed, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. In one postseason start, Lawson tallied seven (five) tackles.

A 5-foot-9, 192-pound corner out of Utah State, Lawson appeared in 15 contests and made 14 starts with the Lions in 2018. He recorded 53 tackles (43), added his first career sack and five passes defensed.

A native of Lauderhill, Fla., Lawson played four years (2010-13) with the Aggies. Anchoring the school’s secondary, Lawson played in 49 games and totaled 205 tackles (143), including 9.5 for loss, two sacks, six interceptions including one returned for a score, 34 passes defensed and two forced fumbles. As a senior in 2013, he started in 13-of-14 appearances and earned first-team All-Mountain West honors after posting 57 tackles (33), four interceptions and 13 passes defensed.
