, India’s No. 1 radio station, started operations in the US on Saturday with its first station going on-air in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut with a frequency of 1600 AM.
With an eye on the South Asian diaspora, which forms a significant part of the ‘immigrant’ population in these cities, the content promises to be a combination of the best in Bollywood music, infotainment and comedy.

The network will also feature shows from popular Indian radio jockeys such as RJ Sayema, RJ Rochie and RJ Shruti to listeners in the US ‘a slice of their homeland’.
The audience will also be able to tune in the wildly popular Mirchi Murgas by RJ Naved and dance mixes on Club Mirchi on these stations.
“The South Asian community was one of the most educated and affluent communities in the world and it is really tragic that this audience with the very few radio stations has quality programming. Radio Mirchi MD and CEO of Radio Mirchi Prashant Panday said, “We aim to be able to change that with our product offerings and hope that the audience loves what we have come up with as it has been for them.”
Mirchi could also be heard in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina on 99.9 FM HD-4, 101.9 FM and 1490 AM; in Baltimore, Maryland on 92.3 FM HD-2 and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 103.9 FM HD-2 through a licensing arrangement.
Over the next few weeks, Mirchi will also be available in Cleveland, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; Richmond, Virginia; and St. Louis, Missouri through HD channels.
Mirchi stations in the US will also be available online at radiomirchiusa.com.
