The worst thing about rumors is that even when they’re not
based in fact, there will always be people who believe them. The Duke and
Duchess of Cambridge are finding that out the hard way in the wake of those
extremely damaging, likely untrue rumors about Prince William engaging in extramarital
flirtations or even worse with Kate Middleton’s friend, Rose Hanbury.
The couple put on a brave
face today as they celebrated eight years of wedded bliss and pointedly
ignored any naysayers who believe their marriage could be in trouble. Even if
it was, you probably wouldn’t know about it – but that doesn’t mean Will and
Kate are hiding a multitude of marital issues. They could be laughing off all
this talk of infidelity right this minute.
Kensington Palace celebrated their anniversary on social media
The royal family proved yet again that they’re finally modernizing
the monarchy when they shared a sweet post for Kate Middleton and Prince
William’s eighth wedding anniversary on social media. The tweet featured a collage
of photos from that special day in 2011 along with a caption that said: “8 years ago today — thank you for your lovely messages on The
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding anniversary!”
The future king and his lovely bride had their wedding at
Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. The pair was dating since 2003, briefly
split in 2007, and made the public wait years for them to tie the knot. But in
the end it was worth it—their wedding was a fairytale that tens of millions of
people watched either on television or live streamed from their computers.
Is Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage on the rocks?
Up until a few months ago, most people believed that the
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s marriage was rock solid. They have three young
children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—plus every time
they’re caught on camera, they’re looking at each other so sweetly it’s hard to
imagine any underlying strife. Either that or they’re really good actors.
But then the news broke that Kate Middleton was insisting the couple “phase out” the Marchioness of Cholmodeley (Rose Hanbury) from their inner circle of friends. People were confused about why that would happen—after all, they live near Prince William and Kate Middleton’s country home and apparently the foursome used to be close friends. That’s when tabloids started speculating that there was more to the story. Specifically, that Prince William got too close to the Marchioness.
Why didn’t Prince William deny the rumors?
Kensington Palace and Prince William himself have yet to acknowledge
the rumors publicly except for threatening legal action against the
tabloids reporting the story. Why not say anything? The short answer is that
denying the rumors often has the opposite effect and makes more people start believing
lies. Simply ignoring them as being too outlandish to address is a much more
Actually, sharing sweet photos from the couple’s wedding for
their anniversary is a brilliant want to remind royal fans that everything is
wonderful between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Surely the couple had a
lovely anniversary and will be celebrating many more happy years together.
